Best online jobs for students |15 Best Online Jobs for Students!

Best online jobs for students! Although it has been a few years since I got to college, I certainly remember needing some money. One thing most students haven’t realized is that you can get that extra money without having to leave your computer. There are a variety of jobs online for students, and I’ll cover the top 15 jobs available.

These online jobs come from a wide variety of fields and very different skills required for each. I chose them as the best online jobs for college students based on a few factors, such as skills required and making money potential.

For each job, I’ll explain what it is, how you can make money doing it, as well as the skills involved in entering it.

My List of the 15 Best Online Jobs for Students

Take online surveys

However, I am including it in the first place because it is so easy to use and save money.

By taking online surveys, you get paid for expressing your opinions. Market research companies use your opinion to get feedback on products or services, create new products or services, or get public opinion on a wide variety of issues. There are also other ways to make money within these sites, which I cover my entire site, giving specific tips and advice for specific survey-taking sites.

For starters, you can check out my list of the 7 best survey taking sites for students.

If you don’t want to wait, and would rather dive into some cash right away, I recommend reading my guide to using Swagbucks (my current favorite survey take up).

While taking surveys won’t get you rich, if you follow my advice here on the Chris survey, it will make a fair amount for a student. Especially when you consider that you can start earning today and all it takes is a computer or a smartphone to get going. With the ease of use and the amount you can add to your monthly income, I believe taking surveys to be one of the best online jobs for students.

3.freelance Photography

If you happen to be good at photography or are pretty crafty with your cell phone camera, then you could be making money for your photos. The way this works is that you create an account and upload your photos to it on one of the sites I’ve listed below. As easy as that.

Here is a site dedicated to getting good photography: School of digital photography

Here is a list of sites that you can sell your photos on:

  • Stockxpert
  • Shutterstock
  • Istockphoto
  • The time of dreams
  • BigStockPhoto

  • PhotoStockPlus

General Freelance Work

While you can stick to freelance writing and photography jobs, there are still a ton of options when it comes to making money online through freelancing.

Some sites to check are:

  • Elance
  • oDesk
  • iFreelance
  • craigslist

Selling on eBay or Amazon

Often, you can find something in a package deal, such as video games, and sell them individually for more.

Return your books to the bookstore or the galleries that people set up on campus barely pay. You can sell your own books as well as your classmate’s books online (for a commission) for a lot more than you could get at the bookstore.

Make the most of craigslist

Buy / Get things for free, then sell them for more. Often, people give away larger items simply because they don’t want to put in the effort to move them. If you or your friend has a truck, you are of great benefit to making money with Craigslist.

Also, if you are good at fixing anything, I’m sure you could find a broken version of it on Craigslist, fix it and sell it for a profit.

Craigslist is also a resource for finding freelance work as well.

Data entry

Many companies want to outsource tasks such as data entry transcriptions or audio data writing. This is as simple as you send them files, and you use their software to enter the data or rate the audio clip.

Here is a list of companies offering data entry jobs:

  • TDEC
  • Bee Virtual
  • HEA-employment
  • Capital Typing
  • Customer / Commercial Service

Although it’s not 100% online it is still a long way from making money from your computer, and some of the customer service jobs are completely online so I thought I would include it. If you don’t mind being on the phone then this is a great option for you.

Please find the below list of companies offering these types of positions:

  • TeleTech @ Home
  • The connection
  • HEA-employment
  • Uhaul Contact Center
  • Asurion
  • 1–800 Flowers
  • Exact customer service
  • West at home
  • Skyes Home
  • Selling Etsy

Etsy is similar to eBay or Amazon, but instead of selling things at random, you are selling you personally made arts and crafts. If you love to do arts and crafts and are looking for jobs online, then Etsy could work a lot for you.

Create a blog

If you have a topic that interests you or excites you, you can start an online blog. You can visit wordpress.com, and start a blog in minutes. One of the easiest ways to make money with a blog is to advertise or sell affiliate products that you promote, such as your favorite video games, books, or music.

This is less guaranteed than taking surveys for the money, but maybe a fun option for you to try.

Write a Kindle eBook

You may know how easy it is to write an eBook for Kindle? It only takes a few minutes to publish. Writing on the other hand is very difficult. However, if you have a topic or story that you think people would love to read and pay for, then there’s really nothing stopping you from giving it a shot.

Open your online store

While I don’t plan on giving a detailed plan on opening an online store, it is one of the best ways to make a living online. You can create products and keep inventory, or you can find manufacturers and have your items drop shipped, so you never have to touch inventory.

Coming up with a business idea and actually executing it is extremely difficult and takes a lot of skill and knowledge, setting up a Shopify store is super simple.

Produce an application

If you are feeling ambitious and think you have a great app idea, then you could be at the other end of the freelance table and hire someone to produce an app for you. As with running an online business, I can’t give you a detailed description of how to build and sell an app, but this blog post here is probably your best place to start.

Stocks Trading

This is probably very unrealistic for a student, but I figure more of the ideas I give you for the best online job opportunities. If you happen to have some money sitting around, and feel confident in your ability to make money in the stock market then this might be for you.

I’m going, to be honest, and say what is probably the riskiest way on this list to make money online. But if you are really interested and feeling ambitious, check out this list of online stock traders to start learning about it.

There you have it, my list of the 15 best online jobs for students. If you have any other student money online ideas or questions? Let me know in the comments!
